LOT 1.9.1: More room to think

Some thoughts arrive when the day finally gets quiet. You may want to put them somewhere, understand why they keep coming back, or find out whether someone else has felt something similar.

That is why we are building LOT, Language of Thoughts: a place to write privately, understand your own thinking, and choose when to connect through it. With version 1.9.1, we are bringing those parts closer together.

This is a preview of the 1.9.1 update. At publication, the public App Store listing still shows version 1.9. The features below describe the new build; availability will depend on the released app version, your platform, and rollout. Circles remain a separate pilot effort.

A Companion with a clearer purpose

You should not need to invent the right prompt before you can begin. The updated Companion offers ways to talk, untangle a thought, or find the words for something you want to say.

You might arrive with a difficult conversation on your mind, an unfinished feeling, or a note you cannot quite explain. Companion can help you examine it or turn it into a draft you review and choose whether to save or use.

We have also made the ending more useful. Before you go, you can review a short memory for next time or pause an unfinished conversation and pick it up later. Approved memory stays under your control. The goal is continuity you can inspect and correct, rather than a system that quietly decides who you are.

Your past writing can help you understand today

Three new LOT Plus features let you return to your own words with a question:

  • Ask your past: ask something like “What was on my mind last summer?” and see an answer alongside dated excerpts from your notes.
  • Then and now: explore what may have shifted between two periods, and what seems to have stayed steady.
  • Deep Portrait: look more closely at recurring beliefs, interests, tensions, and directions in your writing, with source notes you can revisit.

These are interpretations, not verdicts. A citation lets you check which writing informed an observation; it does not make that observation automatically true. You can set aside something that does not fit.

For these features, your phone selects relevant excerpts rather than sending your entire note collection. Those excerpts are processed by our systems and third-party intelligence providers to produce the result. A short note may fit entirely within an excerpt. We want that boundary to be clear before you use the feature.

What you are paying for

LOT Free is a place for your thoughts. LOT Plus gives you more room to think.

Core writing, approved Companion memory, the regular Portrait, and privacy and correction controls remain free. Supported free accounts receive a recurring Companion allowance. Plus adds a larger allowance and the new look-back features offered in your app. Free and Plus use the same Companion; paying does not buy permission for LOT to share your private writing.

Companion replies, drafted notes, and generated Plus insights use responses. Writing a note, managing approved memory, and viewing your regular Portrait do not. Before subscribing, you can review the actual allowance, reset schedule, available benefits, and monthly or yearly price shown in the app and Apple checkout. Plus is not an unlimited-use promise.

We are introducing subscriptions to support the cost of useful, ongoing reflection and continued development. We want the offer to be understandable before anyone pays, with restoration and subscription management available in the app. Purchase availability and benefits can differ across platforms.

Knowing you are not the only one

We are developing “On your mind” around a small but meaningful idea: seeing that other people have chosen to share something related to what you are going through.

These counts describe participating people and a stated time period. They are not a live reading of everyone’s private thoughts. Public posts count only when their authors enable participation; private contributions require a separately approved excerpt and sharing choice. Small counts can be hidden, rounded, or shown over a wider period to protect privacy and avoid misleading precision.

Seeing a related theme should be an invitation, never an automatic introduction or a label attached to your identity.

What we are working on next

Our next work is about making these experiences dependable and useful in everyday life:

  • Better continuity: clearer memory review, more helpful ways to resume, and conversations that lead to something you can use.
  • More trustworthy insights: checking whether source notes actually support an interpretation, improving retrieval, and making corrections easy.
  • A careful Circles pilot: small, optional conversations organized around a situation people recognize in themselves. We are working toward groups of roughly 6–12 people and a seven-day posting period, with reporting and moderator coverage in place before opening participation.
  • A clearer experience across devices: better navigation, readable layouts, smoother loading, and honest explanations of which features and purchases are available on each platform.

Circles are not a promise of immediate group placement or a benefit we are asking people to buy today. A seven-day conversation also does not mean messages automatically disappear after seven days. We will explain participation, privacy, and retention when the pilot is ready.

These are our current priorities, not fixed delivery dates. We will adjust them based on what people find useful, what needs more care, and what we can support responsibly.

The LOT we want to build

Our vision is a thinking network where a private thought can remain private, become a better understanding of yourself, or become a connection you choose.

We do not want you to feel that you must perform, publish, or keep a conversation going to belong here. Sometimes a good outcome is a sentence you finally understand. Sometimes it is finding the words for someone you care about. Sometimes it is realizing another person is working through a similar question.

This is how we want to put Super Able’s idea of Super Intelligence into practice: technology that helps people think more clearly and communicate more meaningfully, while leaving them in charge of their own story.

Companion is a tool for reflection, not therapy or emergency support, and it cannot replace the people in your life. We will keep working to make its limits as understandable as its possibilities.
